This guide is part of the Firefox 3 series

Make: Mozilla

Model / Product: FireFox

Version: 3.6.12

Objective / Info: You will learn to import Firefox bookmarks from a previously backed up windows profile. These steps can be used whenever you want to import bookmarks from another instance of Firefox.

1
Double click the FireFox icon on your desktop of start menu.

2
Click the "bookmarks" option on the menu bar.
3
Select the "Organize Bookmarks" link in the dropdown menu.
4
A "Library" windows should open. Click the "Import and Backup" option.
5
Select the "import HTML" option.
6
Select "From an HTML file" and click the "Next" button.
Note : This could be a backup from a previous installation of FireFox, or on another computer. Maybe a friends existing bookmarks.

7
Browse to the location of your previous Firefox profile. In this example my path to a backup of Windows profile backup is "C: - Documents and Settings - MY WINDOWS PROFILE - Application Data - MozillaFirefox - Profile-soya7wp22.default"
Note : The dashes represent forward slashes.

8
It may take a few seconds depending upon the number of bookmarks that are being imported but ALL of the bookmarks should appear in your bookmarks for your browser from this point forward.
9
These should also appear in your browser immediately without rebooting FireFox when you select bookmarks.

10
This task should now be complete. If not, review and repeat the steps as needed. Submit any questions using the section at the bottom of this page.
