If you purchased a boxed version of the this software it may contain a boot-able CD. If you down loaded this application, you will need to create your own boot-able CD.

Note :If for whatever reason you do not have a boot-able CD you can use this application to create one. Reference the "How to create a boot CD with Acronis Media Builder" guide above.

2
On the damaged laptop or PC, boot to the BIOS or boot order screen and change the boot order to make the CD or DVD drive the first option for booting.

Note :There are countless BIOS and or boot order steps depending on the PC. Reference your computer manufacture for steps specific to your PC.

3
Load the Acronis Media Builder boot CD and reboot the PC.

4
After booting to the Acronis boot CD, you may see a screen that is similar to the windows XP log in screen that offers two choices, Windows XP or Acronis True Image (Full Version). Select the "Acronis True Image (Full Version)" option.

5
You should see a screen with "Recovery" as an option on the left menu. Select it.

6
On the right hand side of the screen click the "Browse for Backup" button and a new window should open. In this window you have the option of selecting the location of your image.

Note :If your image file is located on a PC on your network. You should have the PC connect to a working network Ethernet cable from the time load the Boot CD (Step 2)

7
If you have previously created an image of this PC, remove the Acronis boot CD or DVD and insert the CD or DVD that contains the image you created.

Note :If you have not created a previous image of this PC, then you are not going to be able to restore if using this method.

8
Once you have selected the source of the back up / image, choose it and the recovery process should begin.

Note :the process may take an hour or longer depending upon the size of the image being recovered.

9
After you are notified that the recovery has completed successfully, remove the CD or DVD and reboot the PC. If all went well you PC should be into the same exact state that is was in when it was initially imaged.
