Repair a network connection in Windows xp

Objective / Info: Repair an Internet connection on a computer. This event can be used to restore a lost connection to the Internet, a router or local area network that is connected using a Ethernet cable.

Goto the start menu by clicking the start button.

Click the "Control Panel" option on the menu.

Click the "Network and Internet Connections" option.

Click the "Network Connections" option.

Reference the "Lan or High-Speed Internet Repair" section and locate the connection that you want to repair.
  Note : There may be multiple icons as this example shows. Use your best judgement to find the correct one. In this example, the correct one has a shows as connected.

Right click on the icon the represents your connection and select "Repair".

You should see a pop up repair box that a few sets of messages that may change to quickly to read as the repair takes place.

You should see a pop up repair box with a final message stating that the repair is completed. Click the "Close" button.
  Note : If you receive a message stating the the repair failed, try again.

This task should now be complete. If not, review and repeat the steps as needed. Submit any questions using the section at the bottom of this page.
