Make: Microsoft

Model / Product: Excel

Objective / Info: Learn how to search for a specific value in a cell in the 2019 version of Microsoft Excel.

1
Open Excel by double left clicking the icon on the desktop or start menu, then open the document that you want to work on.
2
Populate row one in column A with a title, we are using "Names". Then populate the cells in column A with different values but make sure at least one of the values is repeated.
3
Pick a cell where you want the total to display and double click it.
4
Type "=count" and a smaller menu with a few options will show. Double click "COUNTIF" from the menu.
5
Click and drag to select the cells that you want to search for values.
Note : After the cells have been selected, the range should populate in the cell.

6
Type a comma behind the cell range, followed by an opening quote, followed by the value you want to search for, then a closing quote and press the ENTER key.
Note : Encore is the value used in this example.

7
You should now see a number that represents the number of times the value appears.
