Open Excel by double left clicking the icon on the desktop or start menu or open the document that you want to work on.

Click the row containing the column header that you want to make diagonal.

Click the "Orientation" button.

Click the "Angle Counterclockwise" option.
  Note : Alternately, you can click the "Angle clockwise" option.

If you can see all of the text in your column headers, then you are done.
  Note : If not, click the "Format" button in the upper right hand corner of Excel and select the "Column AutoFit Row Height" option.
